I personally don't like connecting from the power supply as you can no longer control the fan, so I had to buy a fan controller for my system, not a bad choice, but just kind of annoying that there isn't enough onboard power connectors. When you hook up speakers to the onboard sound card, it will use them for the Speech Reporter but I do not know if it is capable of using speakers hooked up to another sound card for the same functions I doubt it.

As far as pure performance goes, having a SingleChannel memory controller doesn't cut performance in half.
